Preface by Jim Henry:

Most of the time you will be able to connect keyboards without needing to really understand how MIDI works or what MIDI messages the keyboards are sending. However, if things don't just fall into place you will need to dig into the MIDI messages produced by your keyboards to make the settings in the Miditzer necessary to recognize input from your keyboards. Rick's "MIDI for Virtual Organ" document provides basic information about how MIDI works to help you if you find yourself in this situation. Thanks for doing this Rick.

Jim Henry

===================

I have completely re-structured and extended the "MIDI for Virtual Organ" document I had started a couple of years ago.

I am adding a local copy of Rick's document as insurance for its continued availability.

Thank you Jim

Do you have any thoughts on anything I could do any differently to make it easier to understand?

Rick

I think those who use your guide to learn about MIDI will have the best ideas for improvement. Readers, please post questions and ideas for making Rick's guide even better here.
